Nintendo Confirms 'The Legend of Zelda' Live-Action Movie for 2027

The long-awaited adaptation, co-produced with Sony and directed by Wes Ball, will bring Hyrule to theaters on March 26, 2027.

The release date was announced exclusively via Nintendo's new app, Nintendo Today, launched during a recent Nintendo Direct event.
Wes Ball, known for 'The Maze Runner' trilogy, will direct the film, with Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad serving as producers.
Nintendo and Sony Pictures are co-financing the project, with Nintendo holding a majority financial stake and Sony handling global distribution.
Rumors suggest the film may be the first in a planned trilogy, with filming potentially set to begin in New Zealand in late 2025.
While no casting or detailed plot has been confirmed, the story is expected to follow Link's quest to protect Hyrule from Ganon's pursuit of the Triforce.
