Nintendo to Remove SNES Game from Switch Online for the First Time

Super Soccer will no longer be available to Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in Japan and South Korea starting March 28, raising concerns about the permanence of digital game libraries.

Nintendo has announced the removal of Super Soccer (known as Super Formation Soccer in Japan) from its Switch Online retro library, effective March 28, 2025.
This marks the first time Nintendo has delisted a game from its Switch Online service since its launch in 2018.
The removal currently affects only Japan and South Korea, but there is speculation that it could extend to North America and Europe due to potential licensing issues.
Fans have expressed concerns that this move sets a precedent for the impermanence of digital game libraries, especially for third-party titles.
Super Soccer, originally released in 1991, was added to the Switch Online library in 2021 and will not be available for purchase or download after its removal.
