Nova Scotia Expands School Staff to Combat Violence

The provincial government is investing nearly $1 million to hire 47 new staff members focused on preventing violence in schools.

The new hires will include roles such as student supervisors, security guards, and child and youth care practitioners.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to enhance school safety and improve classroom management.
Each school region will determine which specialized staff can best address their specific needs.
Nova Scotia is also updating its school code of conduct and emergency management procedures.
Over 4,600 school staff and 800 advisory council members contributed feedback on improving the code of conduct.
