NYC Mayor Eric Adams Under Federal Investigation Over Ties to Turkey

Authorities Probe Alleged Illegal Foreign Campaign Contributions and Pressure on City Officials

Federal authorities are investigating whether NYC Mayor Eric Adams received illegal foreign campaign contributions from the Turkish government and Turkish nationals.
Adams has longstanding ties to Turkey, having visited the country at least six times and met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The investigation is examining whether Adams conspired with members of the Turkish government to receive illegal donations and whether he pressured city officials to approve the Turkish government’s new consulate building in Manhattan.
Federal authorities raided the home of Adams’s chief fundraiser on Nov. 2, and seized at least two cellphones and an iPad from Adams himself.
Adams has not been charged with any crimes and continues to cooperate with the investigation.
