NYPD Chief of Department Fighting Punishment for Misconduct

NYPD Chief of Department Jeff Maddrey was disciplined for abusing his authority in a 2021 gun case.
He was served with an official reprimand, docking him between six and 10 vacation days.
Maddrey has indicated he'll fight the punishment, setting the stage for him to square off against the police's civilian watchdog.
The Civilian Complaint Review Board substantiated the abuse allegations against him in April and recommended a "command B discipline."
Maddrey will take the matter to trial inside One Police Plaza, with the CCRB prosecuting the case.
