NYPD detectives indicted for stealing $2,900 worth of champagne at music festival they were policing

Three former NYPD detectives were indicted for stealing two bottles of champagne from VIP guests at the Electric Zoo music festival in New York City.
The detectives were working undercover at the festival to enforce narcotics laws when they allegedly stole the bottles of champagne worth $2,900 total.
The detectives were stopped by security guards who made them return the bottles to the guests they stole them from.
The detectives were arrested, suspended without pay from the NYPD, and now face charges including grand larceny and official misconduct.
If convicted of the grand larceny charge, the most serious offense, the detectives could face up to four years in prison.
