NYPD Seeks Suspect After Newborn Found Abandoned in Bronx Tote Bag

A baby girl, just days old, was discovered wrapped in blankets and left outside a Bronx apartment building; police are investigating and seeking public assistance.

The newborn was found early Sunday morning on Rev. James A. Polite Avenue in the Bronx, placed in a green tote bag and wrapped in blankets.
A local resident, Mamadou Hafiz Jallow, rescued the baby from the cold and brought her indoors before police and emergency services arrived.
The infant, believed to be about five days old, was transported to Jacobi Medical Center, where she is reported to be in stable condition.
Surveillance footage released by the NYPD shows a masked individual in a black coat and white pants carrying the green tote bag shortly before the baby was abandoned.
Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline, emphasizing the state's Safe Haven law for legal surrender of newborns.
