Oakland A’s President Dave Kaval Resigns Following Relocation Plans

Kaval steps down as Athletics prepare temporary move to Sacramento and eventual relocation to Las Vegas.

Dave Kaval has resigned as president of the Oakland Athletics after eight years in the role, effective December 31, 2024.
The Athletics will temporarily play at Sutter Health Park in West Sacramento starting in 2025 before moving to a $1.75 billion stadium in Las Vegas by 2028.
Kaval played a central role in the team’s contentious negotiations with Oakland officials, which ultimately failed to secure a new stadium in the city.
MLB approved the Athletics’ relocation to Las Vegas in November 2023, with Nevada committing $380 million in public funding for the new stadium.
Sandy Dean, a longtime associate of team owner John Fisher, will serve as interim president during the transition period.
