Ohio Man Sentenced to Prison for Shooting Over Potato Chips

Melvin Wright Jr. received a 9-12 year sentence after shooting a man who refused to share his chips outside an Akron strip club.

The incident occurred on November 28, 2023, at Lusty’s Adventure nightclub in Akron, Ohio.
Melvin Wright Jr., 43, shot Jacob Hicks in the face after Hicks declined to share his potato chips.
The victim managed to drive himself to a hospital, where he spent six days recovering from his injuries.
Wright pleaded guilty to charges including attempted murder, illegal firearm possession, and having weapons while under disability.
In addition to his prison sentence, Wright must register annually as a violent offender for 10 years after his release.
