Ohio Woman Found Incompetent to Stand Trial for Fatal Stabbing of Toddler

Bionca Ellis, accused of killing a 3-year-old boy outside a Cleveland grocery store, will undergo treatment in a mental health facility.

Judge John Russo ruled that Bionca Ellis, 33, is not competent to stand trial for the June stabbing incident.
Ellis allegedly followed 3-year-old Julian Wood and his mother from inside the Giant Eagle store to the parking lot before attacking them.
Julian Wood died from his injuries, while his mother, Margot Wood, was treated for a stab wound to her shoulder.
Ellis will be treated at North Coast Behavioral Health for up to one year in an attempt to restore her competency.
The attack is believed to have been random, and Ellis has a history of mental health issues and previous interactions with law enforcement.
