The family has launched a GoFundMe fundraiser to cover the costs of Awartani's rehabilitation, family travel, and adaptive living needs.
Jason J. Eaton, 48, has been arrested and charged with three counts of attempted murder in connection to the shooting.
The families of the victims and several civil rights groups are urging law enforcement to investigate the shooting as a hate crime.
