Panthers Draft Heisman Winner Bryce Young No. 1, Plan to Start Season as Backup

The Carolina Panthers selected Alabama quarterback Bryce Young with the first overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Young won the Heisman Trophy in 2021 but will begin training camp as the backup to veteran Andy Dalton.
The Panthers also have Matt Corral, a third-round pick last year, and Jacob Eason on their roster.
Head coach Frank Reich said players must earn their positions, so Young will have to work his way into the starting job.
Corral did not request a trade but missed the 2022 season, potentially hurting his stock with the addition of Young.
