Panthers Name Bryce Young Starting QB Over Veteran Andy Dalton

year-old Bryce Young will be the Panthers' starting QB after being the No. 1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Veteran QB Andy Dalton, who was expected to start, will now be Young's backup.
Coach Frank Reich said naming Young the starter already was "not a surprise" and he won't put too much pressure on the rookie.
Young was a two-year starter at Alabama, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2021.
The last Panthers rookie QB to start in Week 1 was Cam Newton in 2011.
