Pebble Founder Launches Core Devices, Reviving Iconic Smartwatch Line

Eric Migicovsky unveils Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 smartwatches running open-source PebbleOS, now available for pre-order with shipping planned for later this year.

The Core 2 Duo, priced at $149, features a monochrome e-paper display, physical buttons, and a 30-day battery life, with shipments expected in July 2025.
The Core Time 2, priced at $225, includes a color touchscreen, heart rate monitor, and metal frame, with shipping slated for December 2025.
Both watches are compatible with over 10,000 existing PebbleOS apps and watchfaces, thanks to Google's decision to open-source PebbleOS earlier this year.
The watches are designed for a niche audience seeking simplicity, long battery life, and hackability, rather than competing with mainstream smartwatches like the Apple Watch.
Functionality on iOS devices is limited due to Apple's restrictions, with full features better supported on Android.
