Pebble Founder Revives Iconic Smartwatch Design with Core Devices

Eric Migicovsky launches Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2, offering minimalist e-paper smartwatches with long battery life and open-source PebbleOS.

The Core 2 Duo and Core Time 2 are now available for pre-order, priced at $149 and $225 respectively, with limited production runs of 10,000 units each.
The Core 2 Duo features a 1.26-inch monochrome e-paper display, a polycarbonate frame, and a 30-day battery life, shipping in July 2025.
The Core Time 2 includes a 1.5-inch 64-color e-paper touchscreen, a metal frame, and a heart rate monitor, with shipments starting in December 2025.
Both smartwatches run on the open-sourced PebbleOS, supporting over 10,000 apps and watch faces, and emphasizing simplicity and hackability over feature-heavy competitors.
The devices face challenges with iPhone compatibility due to Apple’s restrictions on third-party smartwatch integration.
