Perth Man Sentenced to Life for Murdering Pregnant Lover

Hassan Jabbie, 53, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum non-parole period of 24 years for the murder of Janet Dweh.
Dweh, a 36-year-old nurse and mother of three, was eight months pregnant with Jabbie's child when he bludgeoned her to death with a claw hammer in her Dayton home in October 2021.
The court heard Jabbie pressured Dweh to terminate the pregnancy, citing personal shame and cultural stigma within their Liberian community, but she refused.
Jabbie confessed to an undercover officer that the killing was intentional and described the attack as prolonged and violent, showing no remorse during sentencing.
