Philadelphia Honors Will Smith with Renamed Street as He Prepares Album Return

The city celebrated the actor and musician's legacy with the unveiling of 'Will Smith Way,' coinciding with his first album release in 20 years.

A portion of Philadelphia's 59th Street was officially renamed 'Will Smith Way' on March 26, 2025, to honor the actor and musician's contributions to entertainment and his hometown.
Will Smith attended the ceremony alongside his mother, Caroline Bright, and expressed deep gratitude, calling it 'the honor of a lifetime.'
Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker praised Smith's achievements and highlighted his journey from West Philadelphia to global stardom.
Smith's new album, 'Based on a True Story,' his first in two decades, is set to release on March 28, 2025, featuring collaborations with DJ Jazzy Jeff, Teyana Taylor, and Jack Ross.
In the lead-up to the album release, Smith has reflected on his early career, including paying tribute to 'The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air' and the late James Avery during a recent Las Vegas concert.
