PM Modi Honored with Mauritius' Highest Civilian Award During State Visit

Prime Minister Modi was conferred Mauritius' highest civilian award, the Grand Commander of the Order of the Star and Key of the Indian Ocean, during the country's National Day celebrations.
Modi dedicated the award to the people of India and emphasized the cultural and historical bonds between India and Mauritius, which trace back to centuries of shared heritage.
During his two-day visit, Modi and Mauritius Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam inaugurated the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Public Service and Innovation to foster research and learning.
Key agreements were signed, including collaborations on education, labor recruitment, and the establishment of a Directorate of Science and Technology in Mauritius.
Modi extended OCI card eligibility to the seventh generation of the Indian diaspora in Mauritius, further strengthening ties with the Indian-origin community that forms a significant part of the island's population.
