Postal Workers Strike Disrupts Deliveries Across Germany

The postal workers' strike, organized by the Verdi union, has delayed 12% of letters and packages nationwide, with significant disruptions in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and other regions.
Approximately 27,000 Deutsche Post employees participated in strikes this week, expressing dissatisfaction with the company's current wage offer.
Verdi is pushing for a 7% wage increase and three additional vacation days for 170,000 employees under a 12-month contract.
Deutsche Post's current offer includes a 1.8% wage hike starting in July 2025 and an additional 2% increase in October 2027, which Verdi has rejected as insufficient.
The fourth round of negotiations is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, with Verdi expecting a more competitive proposal from Deutsche Post.
