Potential Human Remains Found in Manitoba Landfill Linked to Serial Killer

Authorities are working to identify remains believed to belong to two Indigenous women murdered by convicted serial killer Jeremy Skibicki.

The Manitoba government announced the discovery of possible human remains at the Prairie Green landfill, north of Winnipeg, during a search for two Indigenous women, Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran.
The remains are being investigated by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the province's Chief Medical Examiner to confirm their identities.
Morgan Harris and Marcedes Myran were among four Indigenous women murdered by Jeremy Skibicki, who was convicted of first-degree murder in 2024.
The search at the landfill began in December 2024 after police initially deemed it too hazardous to conduct an investigation in 2022.
The case highlights the disproportionate violence faced by Indigenous women in Canada, a crisis previously described as a 'genocide' by a 2019 national public inquiry.
