Proposed 50-Story Skyscraper in San Francisco Faces Local Opposition

Plans for a 50-story skyscraper with 712 apartments, including 113 affordable units, have been proposed for San Francisco's Outer Sunset neighborhood.
The tower would be built in an area zoned for much shorter buildings and requires a “state density bonus” to be approved.
Illustrations of the proposed 55-story condo tower with 646 units were released, showing views of Ocean Beach and the San Francisco Zoo.
The site is currently home to a garden center and has become a target for housing developers to help meet the city's goal of 82,000 new units by 2031, though neighbors oppose the plans.
The Chief of Staff believes the plan does not comply with state and local law.
