Proud Boy Member Arrested for Assaulting Police During Capitol Siege

Aaron Donald Sauer, 43, of Syracuse, N.Y., was arrested on charges of assaulting police with pepper spray during the Capitol siege on Jan. 6, 2021.
Sauer was identified through his online shopping history, including purchases on eBay and Amazon, which matched items he wore during the attack.
He traveled to Washington, D.C., with other Proud Boys members and participated in the storming of the Capitol, attempting to stop the certification of Joe Biden.
Federal prosecutors have charged more than 1,313 individuals in connection to the Jan. 6 siege, with 469 accused of assaulting or impeding law enforcement.
Sauer faces at least nine charges, including felony counts of civil disorder and assaulting officers, and made his initial court appearance in New York.
