Punjab Police Rescue Abducted Seven-Year-Old in 24 Hours, Key Kidnapper Killed in Shootout

A swift operation by Punjab Police led to the rescue of a child kidnapped for ransom, with three officers injured and two accomplices arrested.

Bhawkirat Singh, a seven-year-old boy, was abducted from his village in Ludhiana district on Wednesday evening by two motorcycle-borne kidnappers demanding a ₹1-crore ransom.
Punjab Police launched a coordinated operation, forming multiple teams and tracking the kidnappers to Mandour village in Patiala within 24 hours.
The key accused, Jaspreet Singh, was killed in a gunfight with police after attempting to flee in an SUV, while two accomplices, Harpreet Singh and Ravi Bhinder, were arrested.
Three police personnel sustained injuries during the shootout, and a 32-bore pistol along with the motorcycle used in the crime were recovered.
The Director General of Police announced a ₹10 lakh reward and promotions for the officers involved, with state leaders emphasizing a zero-tolerance stance on crime.
