Russian President Vladimir Putin has directed the government to explore the creation of a Russian games console aimed at rebooting the nation's gaming industry.
The initiative includes developing both stationary and portable game consoles, a proprietary OS, and a cloud-based delivery system.
The move is partly in response to the withdrawal of major gaming companies from Russia following the invasion of Ukraine and sanctions affecting tech imports.
The project, which could take up to 10 years to complete, may be entrusted to Russian tech company VK.
The deadline for analyzing the proposal and executing the order is set for June 15, 2024.
