Qimonda Creditors to Receive €420 Million Payout as Insolvency Nears Conclusion
The long-running insolvency process of the defunct chipmaker Qimonda is set to deliver significant payments to creditors, with additional distributions expected in 2025.
- Qimonda, a memory chipmaker spun off from Infineon in 2006, filed for bankruptcy in 2009, initiating a protracted insolvency process.
- Insolvency administrator Michael Jaffé announced €420 million in payments to Qimonda AG’s 2,100 creditors, to be disbursed by the end of the year.
- A legal settlement with former parent company Infineon in August secured €800 million, contributing to a total recovery of €1.2 billion for creditors so far.
- To date, €550 million has already been distributed, with further payments in the hundreds of millions expected upon the resolution of remaining legal and procedural matters.
- Subsidiaries of Qimonda, including a Dresden-based entity, are also set to receive funds, which will then be allocated to their own creditors in 2025.
