Quebec Woman Convicted of Triple Homicide in Brossard

Levana Ballouz, 38, was convicted of second-degree murder for the death of her partner, Synthia Bussières, and first-degree murder for the deaths of their two sons, Eliam, 5, and Zac, 2.
The crimes occurred in September 2022 at the family's home in Brossard, Quebec, where Ballouz also attempted to take her own life after setting objects on fire.
Evidence presented during the trial revealed that Ballouz stabbed Bussières 23 times, suffocated the children, and set fires in the home before being discovered by firefighters.
Ballouz represented herself in court, alleging that Bussières was responsible for the children's deaths, a claim the jury ultimately rejected after deliberating over the weekend.
The trial lasted five weeks, with Bussières's mother expressing gratitude for the prosecution's work and relief at the verdict, allowing her to begin the grieving process.
