Rare 1962 Beatles Audition Tape Unearthed in Vancouver Record Store

The authenticated tape, featuring pristine sound quality, has sparked global fan interest after a snippet was shared online.

A rare copy of The Beatles' 1962 Decca audition tape was discovered by Rob Frith, owner of Neptoon Records in Vancouver, who initially mistook it for a bootleg.
Experts, including music preservationist Larry Hennessey, confirmed the tape's authenticity, noting its pristine sound quality and use of leader tape, a feature of master recordings.
The tape was originally brought to Canada in the 1970s by Jack Herschorn, who chose not to distribute it due to ethical concerns about royalties.
A snippet of the tape, featuring the song 'Money (That’s What I Want)', was shared on social media by Frith and quickly went viral among Beatles fans worldwide.
Frith has no plans to sell the tape but is open to providing a copy to Decca or personally delivering it to Paul McCartney.
