Rare Elephant Twins Born in Thailand After Dramatic Birth

The mother, initially aggressive towards her newborns, has now accepted the calves who are receiving special care.

A 36-year-old elephant named Jamjuree gave birth to male and female twins at Ayutthaya Elephant Palace and Royal Kraal.
The mother attacked the second calf, injuring a caregiver who intervened to protect the newborn.
Twin births in elephants are extremely rare, accounting for only 1% of all births, with male-female pairs being even less common.
Special platforms and syringe feeding are being used to ensure the twins receive adequate nutrition.
Conservation efforts continue at the center, which rescues elephants from street begging and promotes species preservation.
