Rare Five-Planet Alignment Visible Saturday Morning

  • A rare alignment of five planets in our solar system will be visible in the night sky early Saturday morning.
  • Saturn, Jupiter, Neptune, Uranus, and Mercury will appear in a line along the ecliptic in the eastern sky.
  • Jupiter and Saturn will be easily visible to the naked eye, but binoculars are needed to see Uranus and Neptune.
  • The best chance to view the alignment will be a few hours before sunrise on June 17.
  • The next visible five-planet alignment will not happen again until September 8, 2040.
