Lamar Jackson, the heavy favorite for NFL MVP, may not play in the upcoming game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to Ravens coach John Harbaugh.
The Ravens have already clinched the AFC North title and the top seed in the AFC playoffs, making the regular-season finale against the Steelers essentially meaningless for the Ravens.
If Jackson does not play, he would have at least a 19-day break between games, not playing until the Ravens' next game on Jan. 20 or 21.
The last time the Ravens faced this scenario of resting starters was in 2019, when they were upset by the Tennessee Titans in the divisional round after a long layoff.
Nine players remaining on the Ravens' current 53-man roster played in that 2019 playoff loss, which was the last time the Ravens hosted a playoff game.
