Rays Ace Jeffrey Springs Out for Season With Tommy John Surgery

Rays pitcher Jeffrey Springs will have Tommy John surgery and miss the rest of the 2023 season..
Springs was diagnosed with an elbow flexor strain and placed on the 15-day injured list.
Springs had allowed just one earned run in 16 innings across three starts before injuring his elbow.
With Springs out, Shane McClanahan will lead a Rays rotation that also includes Drew Rasmussen, Josh Fleming and top prospect Taj Bradley.
Bradley was called up from Triple-A Durham to replace Springs on the roster.
