Rays finalize deal for new $1.3B stadium in St. Petersburg as part of massive development project

The Rays have reached a deal to build a new 30,000-seat, $1.3 billion stadium in St. Petersburg as part of a $6.5 billion development project.
The new stadium will replace Tropicana Field and is expected to open for the 2028 MLB season.
The Rays will contribute around $700 million towards stadium construction costs, with the city and county covering the remaining $600 million.
The development project includes affordable housing units, retail, restaurants, a hotel, and a Black history museum.
The goal is to break ground on stadium construction in late 2024 and complete it in time for 2028 season.
