'Record' number of guns surrendered in New York buyback program

Over 3,000 guns were collected across New York State in a single day through a gun buyback program organized by the state Attorney General.

Syracuse saw 300 guns surrendered, the most ever collected in the city, which has seen a rise in homicides this year.
The program comes as officials in Syracuse aim to curb gun violence and address a spike in crime.
The buyback initiative collected numerous assault-style rifles, ghost guns, handguns, rifles, shotguns, and homemade or replica firearms.
