Reddit Co-Founder Alexis Ohanian Joins Project Liberty’s Bid to Acquire TikTok

Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit, has joined Frank McCourt's Project Liberty as a strategic adviser for its $20 billion bid to acquire TikTok's U.S. operations.
The initiative, called 'The People's Bid,' plans to integrate blockchain technology to give users greater control over their data and ensure privacy and security.
The sale of TikTok's U.S. assets is mandated by a federal law requiring ByteDance to divest due to national security concerns or face a ban by April 5.
Competing bidders include Microsoft, Perplexity AI, and a group led by Jesse Tinsley, with ByteDance reportedly hesitant to finalize terms or valuation.
Ohanian has emphasized that the bid is not just about TikTok but a broader effort to transform internet platforms toward user empowerment and transparency.
