The regional Warntag, held on March 13, 2025, tests emergency alert systems in Rheinland-Pfalz, Hessen, Bayern, and Nordrhein-Westfalen.
Alerts are disseminated through multiple channels, including sirens, loudspeakers, digital displays, TV, radio, and mobile apps such as Nina and Katwarn.
The Cell Broadcast system sends alerts directly to compatible mobile devices, though older phones may not receive these warnings.
The test aims to identify weaknesses in the alert system and educate the public on emergency preparedness and self-protection.
Entwarnungen (all-clear signals) are issued approximately 45 minutes after the alarms, except via Cell Broadcast, which does not support this functionality.
