Roof Collapse at University of Pittsburgh Party Injures

An overcrowded porch roof gave way during a large St. Patrick's Day celebration, leaving three people seriously injured and prompting an investigation.

The incident occurred Friday evening on Semple Street in Oakland, near the University of Pittsburgh campus.
Approximately 300-500 partygoers were present in the courtyard when the porch roof, crowded with around 22 people, collapsed.
Sixteen individuals were injured, with three in serious but stable condition and the rest treated for minor injuries, including concussions and fractures.
Emergency responders condemned the porch structure but deemed the residential building itself safe for occupancy.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse and have reminded the public of the dangers of overcrowding rooftops.
