Rory McIlroy, a four-time major champion, has reversed his stance on the issue of LIV golfers returning to play on the PGA Tour, stating they should be able to come back without being punished.
McIlroy has been a vocal critic of the breakaway tour since its launch in 2022, which signed up a host of big names and caused a rift in professional golf.
Despite previously accusing those who joined the LIV tour of being duplicitous, McIlroy now believes that a diminished PGA Tour and a diminished LIV Tour is bad for both parties.
McIlroy supports the idea of the strongest fields possible, stating it would be much better for the game of golf if everyone could get back together and move forward.
A deal is currently in the works to potentially merge the PGA Tour and the LIV Tour, which McIlroy is very supportive of.
