Royal Navy Rescues and Releases Six Rare Turtles in the Atlantic

The turtles, found weakened on UK shores, were rehabilitated and returned to their natural habitat by HMS Medway.

The six juvenile loggerhead turtles were swept from the Caribbean or US East Coast by strong winds and Atlantic currents.
They were found in a weakened state along the shores of Cornwall, Devon, and Anglesey, suffering from cold-stunning.
The turtles were rehabilitated by Newquay's Blue Reef Aquarium and Anglesey Sea Zoo before their release.
HMS Medway transported the turtles to the Azores, where they were released back into the wild.
Experts believe the turtles would have died if they had not been rescued and rehabilitated.
