Overview
- HMS Venturer rolled out of Babcock’s Rosyth facility on May 27 as the first of five Type31 frigates for the Royal Navy.
- The ship will be floated off into the River Forth in coming weeks before undergoing outfitting, systems integration and sea trials.
- Managed by Defence, Equipment & Support under the Ministry of Defence, the Type31 vessels will feature Sea Ceptor air-defence missiles and reach speeds above 26 knots.
- The programme is expected to sustain over 2,500 jobs across Scotland and the UK and to create 400 new apprenticeship roles.
- Export orders for the Type31 design with Indonesia and Poland highlight its role in advancing allied maritime cooperation.
