Russia Banned From Men's Olympic Basketball Tournament

Russia will not participate in qualifying for or compete in the men's basketball tournament at the 2024 Olympics due to sanctions over the invasion of Ukraine.
FIBA, the international governing body for basketball, suspended Russia's national teams from competition shortly after Russia invaded Ukraine last February.
The International Olympic Committee ruled that Russian and Belarusian athletes can compete as neutrals, but national teams from those countries are barred.
Russia's place in Olympic qualifying tournaments this year will be taken by Bulgaria.
The status of 3-on-3 basketball, which debuts as an Olympic sport in Paris, remains unclear.
