Sackler Family Name Removed From Major Cultural Institutions Amid Opioid Crisis Controversy

Oxford University has removed the Sackler name from several of its buildings and staff positions.
The Sackler family has donated millions to Oxford and other institutions like the Louvre and Tate museums over the years.
However, the Sackler family's ties to the opioid crisis in the U.S. led these institutions to distance themselves from the family.
The Sackler Library at Oxford will be renamed and other positions and buildings will no longer use the Sackler name.
The Louvre and Tate museums have also taken steps to remove references to the Sackler family.
