Santa Monica Police Arrest Woman for Alleged Kidnapping of 4-Year-Old

Child safely recovered within 30 minutes at nearby motel; suspect identified as Breanna Shields, 31

A 4-year-old girl was allegedly abducted from a Santa Monica restaurant by a woman in her 30s.
The Santa Monica Police Department received a frantic call from the child's grandmother around 12:10 p.m.
Over 30 officers and civilian personnel were deployed to search for the child and suspect.
The child was found unharmed at the Holiday Motel less than half a mile away from the restaurant.
Breanna Shields, who had been living at the motel, was arrested on kidnapping charges and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
