Sen. Fetterman Faces Backlash from Both Political Sides Over Israel Stance

Despite aligning with many progressive goals, Fetterman no longer identifies with the progressive label and has called for tougher border control.

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) has expressed that he believes people on both the far right and left are wishing for his death due to his political stances.
Fetterman, once considered a progressive champion, has drawn criticism from both sides of the political aisle for his unequivocal support of Israel in its war against Hamas.
The senator has rejected calls for a cease-fire and has been vocal about his support for Israel, actions that have drawn protests from his constituents and former staff members.
Fetterman still aligns with many goals considered progressive, including a $15 minimum wage, universal health care, legalizing marijuana and abolishing the Senate filibuster, but no longer identifies with the progressive label.
Fetterman has also called for tougher border control, a stance that has further distanced him from very progressive members of the Democratic Party.
