Senate to Hear From Former Silicon Valley, Signature Bank Execs and Regulators on Bank Failures

  • Former top officials from Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank will testify at a U.S. Senate Banking Committee hearing on May 16.
  • Top U.S. banking regulators, including Michael Barr and Martin Gruenberg, will testify at a separate hearing on May 18.
  • The panel will also hear from top regulators for the states of New York and California, which helped oversee the two failed firms.
  • On Monday, regulators closed a third firm, First Republic, which was then sold to JP Morgan Chase.
  • The hearings come as regulators review rules for firms with over $100 billion in assets.
