Senator demands federal investigation into Microsoft security practices after China hack of US officials' emails

Senator Ron Wyden is calling for federal agencies to investigate Microsoft's security practices after Chinese hackers breached US officials' email accounts.
The hack allowed China to spy on communications of top Biden administration officials including the Secretary of Commerce and Secretary of State.
Microsoft has avoided disclosing details about the hack, which exploited vulnerabilities in its Azure cloud services to access cryptographic keys.
Critics say Microsoft's dominance in cloud computing has led to negligent security practices.
Wyden wants the Justice Department, Federal Trade Commission and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency to take action against Microsoft.
