The settlement funds will cover federal cleanup expenses, including the removal of 50,000 tons of debris from the Fort McHenry Channel.
Maryland has filed a separate lawsuit to recover costs for rebuilding the bridge, estimated to cost between $1.7 billion and $1.9 billion.
