Showtime Sports to shut down at end of 2023, ending network's decades-long history of boxing coverage

Showtime Sports will cease operations on December 31, 2023 after parent company Paramount Global decided to reallocate resources.
Showtime Sports has been broadcasting boxing matches and other combat sports since 1986, becoming a major player alongside HBO.
Showtime will continue airing its remaining 2023 boxing events before shutting down its sports division.
CBS Sports will take over Paramount's sports coverage going forward.
Showtime Sports President Stephen Espinoza expressed disappointment but said the shutdown reflected Paramount's shifting content priorities.
