Overview
- The First Family: Live at the Winchester Cathedral 1967 captures the band’s earliest known live performance from their March 26, 1967 residency at a Redwood City venue.
- Original analog reels recorded by manager Rich Romanello were shelved after the group signed to Epic Records and rediscovered in 2002 by archivists Edwin and Arno Konings before being restored by producer Alec Palao.
- Following a sold-out limited-edition LP for Record Store Day, the live album will receive a wide release on July 18, 2025 via High Moon Records.
- The set comprises covers of Joe Tex, Ben E. King and Otis Redding tracks alongside an original composition, illustrating the group’s pre-breakthrough musical range.
- A preview of the medley “I Gotta Go Now (Up on the Floor)/Funky Broadway” has been shared ahead of the full album launch.
