South Korean Family Missing After Road Trip Through Arizona Winter Storm

Authorities are investigating a possible link between the family's disappearance and a 22-vehicle pileup on Interstate 40 during severe weather.

  • Jiyeon Lee, 33, her mother Taehee Kim, 59, and aunt Junghee Kim, 54, were last seen traveling from the Grand Canyon to Las Vegas on March 13, 2025.
  • GPS data shows their rented white BMW was last located on Interstate 40 near Williams, Arizona, around the time of a 22-vehicle crash caused by hazardous winter storm conditions.
  • The pileup resulted in two fatalities and 16 injuries, but authorities have not confirmed whether the family was involved in the accident.
  • The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office conducted a three-day search of the area, including service roads and hospitals, but found no new leads.
  • The Republic of Korea Consulate General in Los Angeles is assisting local authorities in the ongoing investigation and search for the missing family.
