A South Korean man, now in his 50s, has admitted to killing his girlfriend in 2008 and encasing her body in cement on their apartment balcony.
The woman's body was discovered last month by a maintenance worker repairing a leak in the southern city of Geoje.
Fingerprint analysis and an autopsy confirmed the body as the missing woman, who had died from blunt force trauma to the head.
The suspect continued living in the apartment for eight years after the murder before being imprisoned on drug charges in 2016.
The woman's family, who had lost contact with her, reported her missing three years after her death, but the case went cold until the recent discovery.
